Flights
One of the many attractions of Lanzarote is the availability and choice of flights from most UK airports.
Numerous airlines operate flights including Ryan Air, Easy Jet, British Airways, Jet2, Aerlingus, Thomas Cook and Thomson.
We would recommend booking as far in advance as possible and also having a good look around all the airlines websites before booking to check on luggage allowances and prices.
Airport Transfers
The village of Playa Blanca is only 25 miles from Arrecife airport and the journey usually takes 30/40 minutes by car, bus or taxi.
It is one road from the airport to the village and is very easy to navigate.
Driving is pretty easy too on Lanzarote- just remember to drive on the right!
Airport transfers are operated by First Minute Travel and can be pre booked from the UK. Their website is at www.firstdirect-transfer.com
Cost is approximately 90 Euros return for a private transfer or 40 Euros for a shared minibus service.
You will be met at the airport by a little man with an orange t-shirt and a clipboard who will direct to your dedicated driver or shared minibus. We have used them and found them to be very efficient. Please be in touch if you would like any further information.
Otherwise, there are numerous public taxis at the taxi rank immediately outside Arrivals at Arrecife airport. These are licensed and metered and are perfectly safe to use. The cost is typically in the region of 45 Euros each way.
Car Hire
Car hire can be pre booked from the UK and there are numerous car hire companies operating from Arrecife airport.
You can also hire cars in Playa Blanca if you just want a car for a few days of your holiday.
Again, there are numerous car hire companies operating in the village of Playa Blanca.
Is car hire essential?
Absolutely not!
You can have a pretty amazing holiday without a hire car because of the location of our villa, the amenities within walking distance, the availability of inexpensive, safe and reliable taxis and buses in the village and also the access to coach tours, boat trips and other excursions that can either be pre booked in UK or at one of the many tourist shops and booths by the harbour, marina and village centre.
That said, Lanzarote is a small island and hiring a car and getting out and about on your own sightseeing trips at your own pace and at your own convenience is also fun and can create some very special memories.
